PolyMedia absorbs and adsorbs contaminants and other toxic materials, which either naturally formed or are added to aquaria. PolyMedia cannot desorb harmful materials back into the aquarium/terrarium water at any time.

PolyMedia is non-toxic and harmless to biological filtration, because it allows sufficient ammonia to reach the biological filter to sustain the nitrifying bacteria.
