BPL Black Soldier Fly Larvae L
Blackpool Reptiles Soldier fly larvae are rich in calcium, protein, and essential nutrients, making them a nutritious choice for reptiles, birds, and some mammals. Soldier fly larvae are small, soft larvae that represent the pupal stage of the black soldier fly. The black soldier fly is beneficial to bio-active enclosures as it efficiently recycles organic waste, including your pet’s waste, and promotes bone development through its role as a food supply.
Feeding occasional black soldier fly larvae to lizards can help prevent metabolic bone disease (MBD); however, it is crucial to incorporate them into a balanced diet considering the high fat content of BSFL.
Black Soldier Fly Larvae are a nutritious treat for your pet, rich in essential proteins, calcium, and nutrients that encourage natural foraging behaviors.
To prolong the lifespan of the larvae, you can keep them in cooler temperatures, ideally between 50-60°F. They will stay in the pupal stage for an extended period under these conditions. The pupal stage typically lasts around 14 days before the larvae transform into flies. Once the flies have hatched, they not only become edible for your pet but also serve as a source of enrichment, promoting natural behaviors.
Blackpool Reptiles Soldier Flies and their Larvae can be fed to Bearded Dragons, Chameleons, Leopard Geckos, Gargoyle Geckos, Crested Geckos, Leachianus Geckos, Day Geckos, and a range of other insect-eating pets.
