Jewelled Lizard CB24
The Occelated Lizard, Eyed Lizard, or Jewelled Lizard is a European lizard that is often kept as pets due to their colourful appearance and relatively calm temperament. They are a large lizard, reaching around 30-60 cm and can reach up to 90 cm, including the tail.
Blackpool Reptiles Jewelled Lizards for sale have been captive bred in 2024, meaning they are less than a year old. Currently, our Jewelled Lizards are quite small and fast due to their age; however, they can be very friendly, and providing you work with your pet Jewelled Lizard, it is possible to handle them similarly to other lizards like Bearded Dragons.
Temperature range is crucial for the health and well-being of Jewelled Lizards, as they require a basking spot of around 95-110°F and a cooler side of around 75-85°F in their enclosure. It is important to provide proper UVB lighting, as this keeps bones and skin healthy while preventing problems like metabolic bone disease. Occelated lizards require an UVB index of Zone range UVI 1.0–2.6 (maximum UVI: 2.9–7.4 in basking zone). Failure to provide adequate UVB lighting can lead to serious health issues for occluded lizards, such as metabolic bone disease and skin problems. Occelated lizards require a large enclosure, which should be appropriately sized for the age of your animal. Adults require a big setup, and so owners should consider this before purchasing their lizard.
Jewelled Lizards feed on a range of insects and some fruit and berries. They also eat birds’ eggs and some small mammals in the wild. Ensure you provide a mixed diet using locusts, crickets, beetles, and more. Fruit and berries are generally eaten depending on the season, and your lizard may eat some during the spring/summer months. Your lizard may also enjoy thinly chopped leafy greens such as kale or collard greens. Food should be dusted with calcium and calcium + D3 2-3 times a week.
