Male & Female Pink Belly Swift WC
Pink bellied swifts (Sceloporus variabilis) are a small to medium sized lizard originating in America – from North to South and Mexico.
They are named after their appearance as the males have pink bellies which can be seen when they sit with their head up. Females are not as colourful but are still rather pretty. Both show bronze and brown colouring but females wil l have a much lighter and less colourful body. Males should not be kept together due to territorial behavior, but housing a single male with a group of females is feasible for social interaction.
Pink bellied swifts are known for their agility and speed, making them skilled hunters of insects.
Pink bellied swifts require a forest type environment to mimic their natural habitat and provide ample space for their jumping and running behaviors. For optimal well-being, we recommend a large enclosure for your swifts and a larger space if adding multiple animals to accommodate their social dynamics.
Providing ample hiding spots and climbing structures is crucial for the well-being and natural behaviors of these active lizards. This will allow them to bask in the heat and cool off under decoration when they choose to.
Pink bellied swifts enjoy a diet of insects including crickets, locusts, mealworms, flies, and other small live foods, providing essential nutrients and variety for their diet. Live food should be dusted with calcium powder and plus D3 supplements to ensure proper nutrition for the swifts.
