Chahoua geckos, also known as mossy prehensile-tailed geckos, are native to New Caledonia and are known for their unique appearance and docile nature. They require a humid environment with plenty of hiding spots and vertical space for climbing.
Chahoua geckos should be housed in a well-ventilated enclosure with live plants, branches, and cork bark for climbing and hiding. It is important to maintain proper humidity levels and provide a varied diet of insects and fruit for their overall health and well-being. Bio-active enclosures allow your pet Chahoua gecko to exhibit their wild behaviours as well as providing the perfect parameters for your pet. Blackpool Reptiles provide a range of bio-active enclosures and set-ups for your pet gecko. We also have a range of other suitable housing. See our set-up kits.
Feeding: Chahoua geckos should be fed a diet consisting of gut-loaded insects such as crickets, roaches, and mealworms, as well as a variety of fruits such as figs and bananas. It is important to dust their food with calcium and vitamin supplements to ensure they are receiving proper nutrition. In captivity we feed a range of fruit mixes in the form of Pangea.
When handling your Chahoua gecko, it is important to do so gently and avoid grabbing or squeezing them. It is best to let them crawl onto your hand on their own and support their body properly to prevent injury. Remember to wash your hands before and after handling to prevent the spread of bacteria.
