General Information: Watermelon Begonias are known for their attractive foliage that resembles the rind of a watermelon. They thrive in humid environments, making them perfect for terrariums or bathrooms with high moisture levels.
This relatively fast growing vine tolerates a wide variety of conditions in the terrarium but does best in warm, humid tanks. Provide good lighting but avoid placing under bright hot lights.
Apart from the aesthetic appeal of a planted terrarium there are some very real, tangible benefits for the animals. Living plants provide natural cover and climbing perches, shade, basking sites and maintain natural humidity. Just as live plants in an office can improve workers well-being, live plants in a terrarium will have the same effect for animals.
