Extremely loyal birds who require an attentive owner who has lots of time to dedicate to this beautiful bird

Colours: Most commonly green, also seen in bright yellows, reds, albino, blue and others. Most typically green with blue tail feathers and yellow feathers under the wings.

Housing: Lives alone. Do not keep more than 1 in a cage unless breeding

HOUSING YOUR RING-NECKED PARAKEET

A large indoor enclosure. Can be tamed to sit on freestanding perch over time. Must be in the largest cage possible and must have flight time outside the cage.

Aviary’s are suitable along with suspended cages—large cage required. 

They are able to talk and need much enrichment in their cage. Change toys and perches often to allow your bird to enjoy a new habitat. Use a variety of perch sizes to keep good foot health.

HANDLING YOUR PARAKEET

Indian ring-necked parakeets are very intelligent birds who require a large amount of attention. They can be very tame, but if left alone they will very quickly become difficult to handle.

They are not advised for children as they do not like loud noises and lots of movement. Given the right conditions, this animal will bond with its owner and this will last for life.
