Bosc Monitor CB23
Boscs, also known as Savannah Monitors, are one of the smaller monitors reaching around 3ft as adults, yet this is still big in lizard terms. They are terrestrial monitors originating in Africa, their environment being dry arid scrub. They enjoy burying in sand and squeezing among rocks and plants.
In captivity, adult Boscs do well in as large an enclosure as possible with plenty of rock, slate, wood, plants and other arid decor. They are well known to make a bit of a mess so securing decor with reptile safe adhesive is advised to ensure the decor does not drop and injure your pet.
Boscs feed on a mixed diet of insects including locusts, crickets, roach’s and worms along with pinkie/fuzzie mice and rats (size depending on the size of your pet). Boscs require a hot spot temperature of around 90-95 Fahrenheit with UVB available along with calcium +D3 supplement dusted on food, insects should be gut-loaded and in good condition to keep your bosc healthy.
Bosc monitors are known to be one of the tamer monitors and providing they are regularly interacted with can be handled even at adult size. Care should be taken to differentiate between feeding and handling times with the use of tap training.
