Temperature: 65-75°F (celcius 18-24°C) Pilea plants prefer moderate temperatures and should be kept away from drafts or extreme temperature fluctuations to thrive.
Light: Pilea plants thrive in bright, indirect light. Direct sunlight can scorch their leaves, so placing them near a window with sheer curtains is ideal.
Water: Pilea plants prefer consistently moist soil, but they are susceptible to root rot if overwatered. Allow the top inch of soil to dry out between waterings to prevent issues.
Care/Maintenance: Pilea plants benefit from regular pruning to encourage bushier growth. Additionally, periodically rotating the plant to ensure even growth and checking for pests will help maintain its health and appearance.

General Information: Pilea plants are also known as Chinese money plants or pancake plants due to the shape of their leaves. They are relatively easy to care for and make great additions to any terrarium.
Money Plants are ideal for ground cover in the moist, forest terrarium. They grow as low creepers that spread over the soil, rooting as they go. They love shady conditions, high humidity and a constantly, evenly moist soil, exactly what is found in the terrarium! please note that these are mixed varieties and so vary from the picture shown.
Apart from the aesthetic appeal of a planted terrarium there are some very real, tangible benefits for the animals. Living plants provide natural cover and climbing perches, shade, basking sites and maintain natural humidity. Just as live plants in an office can improve workers well-being, live plants in a terrarium will have the same effect for animals.
