Giant African Train Millipede
Most millipedes have around 100 legs, usually a pair on each segment of their body. There are around 7000 species of millipede in the world originating in many places and generally preferring warm damp areas.
Giant African Train Millipedes are large millipedes originating in Africa. They are known for their large size and calm temperament, making them popular pets among invertebrate enthusiasts. Train millipedes can live for 7-10+ years in captivity with proper care and conditions.
They require a terrarium of at least 10 gallons in size to provide enough space for burrowing and climbing. When keeping Train millipedes together, be cautious, as housing males and females in the same terrarium may lead to breeding.
Train millipedes enjoy feeding on decaying leaves and wood and can be offered treat foods such as fruits and vegetables.
To ensure the well-being of Giant African Train Millipedes, it is crucial to provide a heat mat to maintain the correct temperature levels in their habitat. Train millipedes require a temperature of around (23-29 °C) in their habitat. We recommend a thermostat with every heat source.
