Milk snakes are a species of kingsnake, a non-venomous colubrid originating in the USA.

The Honduran milk snake is one of the more commonly bred milk snakes in captivity. It is also one of the larger species of milk snake and reaches around 5ft at adult size.

In captivity, provide milk snakes with a dry scrub environment with access to fresh water daily. Heating should be provided in order to reach the ideal temperatures of 70-75F ambient/cool and a basking area of 85-90F. This can be provided via heat mat, bulb or ceramic just depending on what kind of tank you choose to keep your snake in.

Honduran milk snakes inhabit rocky outcrop and dry scrub areas- place rocks and plant decor in the enclosures to provide enrichment.

We advise growing your enclosure with your snake in order to provide security for young snakes. Adult milk snakes can be kept in a vivarium or terrainium measuring at least 3ft in length.

Milk snakes should be housed singularly. King snakes can be canibalistic and with milks being a species of king, we always advice keeping seperately and if pairing for mating ensure to keep check regularly on your snakes.

Milk snakes are advised as basic to intermediate as they can be flightier than other species of snake. Always make sure you use a hook or tool to establish the difference between feeding and handling times.
