General Information: Venus flytrap medium are carnivorous plants that require a high humidity level of 50-60%. Avoid using tap water as it may contain minerals harmful to the plant. These plants are sensitive to touch, so avoid triggering their traps unnecessarily.

This carnivorous plant grows in bog conditions where they trap insects using their sticky leaves. They need to be constantly damp and if grown in a pot then they need to stand in a dish of about 1cm of water all the time.

Apart from the aesthetic appeal of a planted terrarium there are some very real, tangible benefits for the animals. Living plants provide natural cover and climbing perches, shade, basking sites and maintain natural humidity. Just as live plants in an office can improve workers well-being, live plants in a terrarium will have the same effect for animals.
