General Information: Creeping fig plants are known for their ability to climb and cover walls or trellises. They are a popular choice for indoor and outdoor decor. They are relatively low-maintenance and can thrive in a variety of environments, making them a versatile plant for any terrarium.
Creeping Fig is the classic terrarium plant. It grown as a vigorous creeper with small attachment roots on the stems allowing it to fix to rocks and wood. If you plant creeping fig high up in the terrarium then it will trail down and form cascades of foliage. It prefers a moist soil and high humidity with good light. It will tolerate low light but this tends to make it grow very straggly and produce small leaves.
Apart from the aesthetic appeal of a planted terrarium there are some very real, tangible benefits for the animals. Living plants provide natural cover and climbing perches, shade, basking sites and maintain natural humidity. Just as live plants in an office can improve workers well-being, live plants in a terrarium will have the same effect for animals.
