Male & 2 Female Giant African Bull Frog CB
Pyxicephalus adspersus, also known as the Giant African Bull Frog, is a popular choice for amphibian enthusiasts due to its large size and unique appearance. These frogs require a spacious enclosure with plenty of hiding spots and a diet consisting of insects and small rodents. It is important to provide a shallow water dish for soaking and regular misting to maintain proper humidity levels in their habitat.
External heat, such as a heat lamp or heat mat, is essential for regulating the frog’s body temperature based on the type of enclosure you choose for your frog. Given their substantial size, it’s crucial to carefully choose a tank that will accommodate the frog throughout its life. Not only do Bull Frogs grow very large but they can also jump very high and should be able to do this in their enclosure.
Temperatures that are required are between 75-85 degrees Fahrenheit during the day and can drop to 70-75 degrees Fahrenheit at night. UVB light should also be provided as it aids in strengthening bones, maintaining the frog’s health, and enabling it to experience sunlight levels akin to its natural habitat.
Bull frogs like to dig down into the soil and so a deep level of substrate should be provided. Also provide a water bowl large enough for your frog to sit in if it chooses to soak. Be sure to only use de-chlorinated water by either leaving tap water uncovered for 48 hours or choosing a suitable dechlorinating product which is available at Blackpool Reptiles.
