Male Madagascan Ground Boa CB23 (with Paperwork)
The Madagascan Ground Boa (Acrantophis madagascariensis) is a terrestrial snake species native to Madagascar. These boas are known for their docile nature and relatively easy care requirements, making them a popular choice among reptile enthusiasts. They are the largest snakes found in Madagascar; however, they are medium- to large sized Boa reaching around 8-10ft as an adult.
The gorgeous pattern and paler colours of Madagascan ground boas are well known, which highlights how excellent at camouflaging they would be in the wild.
These beautiful boas require a large set up as adults and as always we recommend purchasing the biggest snake housing that you can make available for your pet boa.
Despite being terrestrial, your pet ground boa will benefit greatly from having branches and decor to climb on, enhancing its physical and mental stimulation, and promoting natural behaviors. This will help keep your pet boa healthy and happy. Enhance your ground boa’s habitat by creating a bio-active enclosure with live plants and natural bark, mimicking its wild environment and promoting a more enriching and dynamic living space. Custodians can help to keep your snakes tank clean by feeding from waste and rotten leaf litter.
External heat and UVB must be supplied in order to keep your pet Madagascan Ground Boa healthy. Ambient temperatures should be 21-24 degrees Celsius (70-75 farenheit) and basking temperatures should reach 29-32 degrees Celsius (85-90 farenheit) to mimic their natural habitat. Remember to provide a water bowl large enough for your boa to soak in and maintain proper humidity levels in the enclosure.
Madagascan ground boas feed on a variety of prey items, including rodents such as mice and rats, and birds like sparrows and finches in the wild. In captivity we feed a selection of defrosted rodents, defrosted chicks are a good treat option.
