Vietnamese Rainbow Millipede WC
The rainbow millipede is a small, brightly coloured millipede originating in Thailand and Vietnam. They are a commonly kept millipede and are visually appealing due to their grey and white bodies with red highlights, and pure red legs.
Thai rainbow millipedes grow to around 5 to 8 centimeters in length. They are relatively easy to care for and make great pets for beginners interested in keeping millipedes.
They enjoy a diet of decaying leaves and wood with occasional treats of fruits and vegetables.
Thai rainbow millipedes require a terrarium of at least 15 liters in size with plenty of ventilation and substrate for burrowing. A heat mat, controlled by a thermostat set to maintain temperatures within the range of 24 to 29 degrees Celsius, should be provided as these millipedes are sensitive to temperature fluctuations.
Due to their natural habitat’s high humidity levels, Thai millipedes require a humidity range of around 70 to 80 percent for their well-being. It is also important to mist the enclosure regularly to maintain these levels.
They thrive on a forest-type substrate, which can be enriched by mixing in coco, leaf litter, and pieces of bark. This substrate not only serves as decoration but also provides them with a natural source of food.
